welcome to the pilates academy

why choose the pilates academy?

  • OUR PILATES CERTIFICAION PROGRAM IS CREATED BY A PILATES MASTEr INSTRUCTOR THAT HAS TRAINED OVER 300 TEACHERS THat LIVE, WORK, AND TEACH IN THE US, EUROPE, AND asia.

Being a great Pilates Instructor will not necessarily make someone qualified to be a Master Instructor. Our Head of Education designed this Pilates certification program after certifying hundreds of teachers, presenting at conferences, and writing courses for one of the leading national Pilates schools (in addition to a Masters of Science and Teaching). It takes additional study, practice, and skill building to be able to guide and coach potential teachers. Trust your education with someone who has spent over 12 years certifying successful graduates to work as Pilates professionals.

  • ACCESS TO HUNDREDS OF VIDEOS IN OUR ONLINE EXERCISE LIBRARY, AND KEEP THAT ACCESS FOR LIFE.

Learning the complexity of Pilates exercises is almost impossible from just a paper manual. So in addition to the manual, in our Pilates certification program, all of our students get a video for each and every exercise, and practice videos for each and every exercise. These videos are yours to keep for life so that you can refer to them and continue to learn, study, and grow your understanding of the work. Being a student in the Pilates Academy means that support and learning continues after you have paid for your Pilates certification.

  • no additinal testing fees (or organziations).

For each level of our Pilates certificaion, assessment is included in the last weekend. There are no additional testing fees or outside organizations that certify our graduates. Our teachers are prepared to teach immediately after completing our Pilates certificaion (if they pass our theoretical, practical, and technique assessments). We are our own certifying agency so graduates do not need to pay hundreds of dollars to test with someone else after completing our Pilates certification.

  • NO ADDTIOANL FEES FOR LESSONS.

We do not require students to take lessons with the Master Instructor while completing the Pilates certificiaon. We encourage our students to take lessons with other instructors, and match each student up with a mentor to help guide their practice (these mentors often donate this time helping students). Students in the Pilates Academy can also complete their hours with self guided practice (that costs nothing at all). By not requiring lessons in addition to the cost of the Pilates certification program, our students save between $800-$1000. All students still have access to work with the Master Instructor, but we realize there are many great teachers to learn from, so any lessons or study are accepted for course completion.

  • continuing education options.

We support our graduates after they are certified with options to renew that help them continue to grow. Retreats, teacher sponsored workshops, and continuing coursework are offered on alternating years. Connect with your fellow teachers and continue to clarify technique and teaching skills after you start your Pilates career. Getting support after graduation is just as important as support during your Pilates certificaion. The Pilates Academy offers a clear way to keep certified that keeps our network of teachers connected, helps to clarify technique, and offers updates as science changes.

Level I pilates certification/mat and reformer Weekend 1 march 1-2, 2024): $685

8am-5pm Saturday and Sunday

Weekend 1 starts with the Mat and Reformer work. Learn the beginning Mat and Reformer exercises, how to progress clients into the ideal form safely, and how to teach effectively. Students will receive a manual detailing all the exercises upon registration so they can practice, as well as practice videos and mini videos for every exercise (by the end of the course, the library will include over 150 videos). By the end of this weekend, students will be able to explain the set up and execution of each beginning exercise on Mat and Reformer, and will learn the Teaching Methodology for how to teach. This course is our foundation and will also help you understand the vocabulary and history of Pilates as well as our Structural Integration concepts that help make our program unique. These concepts teach you how to break down the most perplexing and difficult parts of the method so you can explain it at the first lesson with your clients so they can feel and fire the correct muscles in their body.

8am-5pm Saturday and Sunday

Weekend 2 teaches even more exercises on the other pieces of apparatus in the studio - chair, barrel, Cadillac, Magic Circle, and the wall. Students will also learn how to teach effective, safe, and fun group classes on Mat and Reformer. Workshops will include how to spot and fix errors, how to use imagery effectively, how to create effective Powerhouse cues, and how to use touch to safely inform movement and spot clients. This weekend builds from weekend 1 so that more of the details of the functional movement patterns in Pilates can be used by students to help align and correct movement with clients in private as well as group classes.
